Fans Prepare To "Bring Back Brett Favre"
Brothers who organized original rallies to keep Favre in Green Bay prepare for his return to
Lambeau Field with a book, a web site, a letter from Brett Favre to the fans, and a
fundraiser for the Special Olympics
Green Bay, Wisconsin, October 26, 2009 – It was more than a year ago when two Wisconsin
brothers organized friends, family, and hundreds of fans in a series of rallies to show
support for Brett Favre after he announced his desire to return from retirement to the
NFL. The grassroots movement — known simply as “Bring Back Brett Favre” — captivated sports fans
and athletes alike for 27 harrowing days.
In the end, Green Bay decided not to take the advice of the brothers and their followers,
instead opting to move on with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. Favre moved on as well, returning
to the NFL for a season with the Jets, retiring again, and un-retiring once more to play
with his former NFC North rivals, the Minnesota Vikings.
Now, a year later, brothers Erick and Adam Rolfson are returning to Green Bay to witness the
return of their favorite quarterback, though they never dreamed he’d be wearing purple when
that day arrived.
“When Adam and I organized ‘Bring Back Brett Favre’ we couldn’t have imagined that he’d be
making his return to Lambeau Field in a Vikings uniform,” Erick Rolfson told reporters.
“Brett is a competitor with an immense passion for the game, and when the Packers moved on,
he had to as well in order to come back to the NFL.”
Rolfson also says that he and his brother received a letter from Favre after
bringbackbrettfavre.com, thanking fans for their support.
"We received a letter from Brett Favre to all of his fans," Rolfson said. "We've been holding onto the letter, waiting for the appropriate time to release it, and that time appears to be now."
Shortly after Favre’s departure for New York, the Rolfsons had a chance meeting with author
Thomas Hapka who was already working on “Letters To Brett Favre: A Fan Tribute” — a book
comprised of personal messages from fans around the world to the former Packer
signal-caller. Hapka and the Rolfsons teamed up to complete the project, offering a portion
of the proceeds to the Special Olympics in honor of Favre.
“Through Brett Favre's dedication to this charity, many special athletes have been able to
experience the thrill of competition,” Adam Rolfson said. "Our donation to Special Olympics
is a great way to honor Brett, these athletes, and anyone else who hasn't let themselves be
held back by their disabilities. This a great feel-good story and anyone who purchases this
book can be pleased with the great organization they are helping."
The Rolfson brothers will be in Green Bay the week of the game, conducting interviews,
greeting fans, and making a series of appearances as part of their book tour. They are also
collecting letters from fans through their web site — LettersToBrettfavre.com — and
guaranteeing that all messages submitted will be delivered to Brett.
"We invite all football fans to make their voices heard, no matter how they feel about
Brett," said Thomas Hapka. “We want to provide a true representation of the pulse of the
fans through the letters collected.”
