Corey Stencel / Minnesota

Posted by Erick On January - 25 - 2010

Dear Brett Favre,
I just wanted to start out by saying THANK YOU for one hell of a year of football!! Its awesome to see a team play with so much HEART. You guys played very well and gave me a great time watching football this year.
I’m 27 years old and work as a carpenter for Kraus Anderson in Minnesota and I’ll be honest I have never written a fan letter before. I just want you to know how much I appreciated you coming to the Minnesota Vikings this year. I already had you on my team in Madden 09 with my franchise before you signed knowing you are the answer to what this high caliber team needed! (it took gus ferrotte, bobby wade and 3 draft picks to trade for you too!)
Growing up I was a huge John Elway, Mike Shannahan, and broncos fan, so Ill be honest and say I was rooting for the Broncos but that was best Super Bowl I ever watched. You and Elway are and will remain my favorite quarterbacks to ever play this game.
It was just the past 3 years I have really started to become a true vikings fan. I sincerely hope you can and will come back next year. I had people over for every game you guys won this year so naturally we thought that was the ticket for you guys winning so everyone came over. I was lucky enough to see the Bears and Giants game at the metrodome this year and some of the throws you made where just flat out impossible to me, but you made them anyway. The one that stands out the most is when I was at the giants game sitting upper deck behind the endzone and you just threw a cannon perfectly for a td about ten yards out. That ball had to be put there perfectly and I don’t think any other quarterback could have made that throw. You really have a SPECIAL TALENT! I love seeing the way you and Rice connected this year as well, especially the pass against dallas last week. That was another pure amazing play.
I’m sorry for rambling on like this so I’ll just end with this last little bit. I was at the mall of america last august and bought my first vikings jersey ever. yours. Again I just wanted to thank you for a great year and hope you come back next year.

Sincerely,
Corey Stencel

Brett enjoy the time off but please come back, there is still a lot of football in you. We love you and what a heck of a year and there is still another one the one you go to the super bowl.

Brett, I have been and will always remain,a super fan. I grew up in Wisconsin and with you. This year, my 7 year old son and I flewall the way back to Minnesota to see your first game against the Packers in the Metrodome. Our hotel was full of people from all over the country who had done just the same – come to see you – if only for one more time in person. No other player inspires such passion. I know you’re hurting now, in more ways than one – and I know the nay-sayers are out there – but please know there are legions of us who love and support you and will always stand by you and your decisions. I say see you next year, Brett and thanks for another great season! The NFL is much more fun with you in it. Much love and all the best to you, Stephanie

    Dear Brett,

I know I am among a huge majority of NFL fans who are hoping and praying that you come back for another year with the Vikings. You personify everything that is good in sports and how any sport should be played.

I lived in Wisconsin for many years and I distinctly remember making a statement to my wife, after watching one of your games during your first season with the Packers. After yet another interception, I turned to her and said, “This guy will never make it in the NFL!” Has anyone in history, ever made a more incorrect statement? I doubt it. Since then, I have become one of your biggest fans and have thoroughly enjoyed watching you play. You are not only the best quarterback ever to put on pads, but most likely the best football player ever, in general. If you retire now, we will all be the worse for it. You have made your mark on the game and when you leave, the NFL will just not be as much fun.

Realizing that I say this from a purely selfish perspective, I gotta ask you to come back for at least another year. We all know you are hurting from all the cheap shots the Saints laid on you, as well as the rigors of the season. But those pains will go away and before you know it everyone will be talking about the upcoming season. Based only your decision,Viking fans will be talking about 2011 being the year they finally get to the Superbowl, with you at the helm. On the other hand, they could be talking somberly about how many years it will take to find another leader under center who is capable of taking them there. The Vikings are your team…..all the pieces are in place….and you still have the moves and the arm of a 25 year old.

If you decide to retire, I just want to thank you for the memories. But, I really hope you will be making more memories for all of us football fans, next season.

God Bless you and your family!

    Jim Patton
